CHINA - ORDERS AND DECORATIONS, Qing Dynasty: Medal of Imperial Superintendent of Trade for Peiyang, Fifth Grade, c. late 19th Century
with colour tassels, pierced at 6 o’clock (Li Gongqing's China Qing Dynasty Medals book page18). Ex-item from Baldwin's auction in Hong Kong some years ago.
The Superintendent of Trade for Peiyang was held concurrently by the Governor of Chihli. This post was in charge of commerce, foreign affairs, coastal defense, taxes and official military industries in Chihli, Shantung and Fengtian.
