RARE Native American Taos Artist Beautiful Foldout Art Cards Vancil Foster. Condition is "New".
There are 6 cards (with envelopes) representing 3 different scenes in this rare selection.   The back of the cards has this message:  "This card was designed by an artist working for the Vancil Foster Greeting Cards in Taos, New Mexico more than 50 years ago.  Each of the operations in original production has been faithfully followed including the application of each color separately and by hand."
Unfortunately, the original Native artist is not identified with the drawings.  There are three different scenes represented with each one showing the exterior and then unfolding to reveal the interior.  There is one scene (and 1 card) of the exterior of the famous Taos 4 story Pueblo and opening up to the interior of a typical Native room of the time.  Another scene (2 cards) represents a religious ceremony with the Natives ascending the ladder leading into the Kiva.  The interior of the card shows them inside the Kiva preparing for the sacred ceremony.  The last card (3 cards) shows the exterior of the church with people entering and then the inside with the altar.  These have been in storage for many years and were purchased some time prior to that.  The reference above to 50 years would be more like 80 years or more now.  The scenes are very well done and the condition of these cards is very good.  One card has a slight fold on a corner and one envelope has a slight bend along the edge.  There is slight edge wear.
