    Description

Vintage LG Bakelite and carved wood stretch bracelet. Tested.
Very unique piece. Butterscotch Bakelite string with carved wood pieces, tropical flourish. Authentic and tested with simi chrome polish.
Approx 1.5” wide, strung with an elastic cord that feels a bit loose, works well on medium to large wrists, but I recommend restringing for safety and tightness.
Bakelite is a general term for a cast Phenol Formaldehyde Resin (Phenolic Resin), manufactured under many brand names including Bakelite, Catalin and Faturan.
Most phenolic resin jewelry was made between the two World Wars in the 20th century. In the early 1940s, factories turned their attention to manufacturing items for the war effort, and use of plastics for jewelry significantly decreased. By the early 1950s, Lucite, Plexiglas and other plastics had replaced phenolic resin, and for the most part, what we now think of as "Bakelite" ceased to be produced.
